He said the establishment of Tazkiyah University marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s educational landscape, providing a unique opportunity for women to access quality education and unlock their full potential.

“I am particularly delighted to see a pioneering initiative that promotes the advancement of women in our society. This university will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our female populace, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in their chosen fields and make meaningful contributions to our nation’s development”, he said.

Sheikh Akoshile, who said the importance of women’s education is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings, noted that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is reported by Ibn Majah as saying that “Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim”, adding that this hadith underscores the importance of education for all, regardless of gender.

He explained that the Prophet’s emphasis on treating daughters with kindness and respect, including providing them with education, is a testament to the value Islam places on the empowerment of women.

In the context of Tazkiyah University, Sheikh Akoshile said the Islamic ethos is reflected in Prof. Maqary’s vision to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment for women, adding that by doing so, he is not only promoting education but also upholding the values of compassion, justice, and equality that are central to Islamic faith.

Grand Khalifa Akoshile cited another tradition narrated by Ahmad, where the Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasises the importance of treating daughters with kindness and respect, which includes providing them with education: “Whoever has a daughter and he does not bury her alive, nor does he belittle her, nor does he prefer his son over her, Allah will admit him to Paradise.”

He particularly lauded Prof. Maqary for pledging to channel the university’s profits into a trust fund supporting orphans across Nigeria, describing it as “a noble act of service to humanity and an exemplary gesture of compassion and selflessness.”

Enlisting the support of all Nigerians, the Grand Khalifah called on religious leaders, education stakeholders, and policymakers to give maximum support to the institution, noting that Tazkiyah University’s model integrates academic excellence, moral values, and social responsibility, setting a new standard for inclusive education in Nigeria.

He said the Tijaniyyah Movement in Lagos State, joins millions of Nigerians in celebrating this visionary milestone and prays for Allah’s continuous guidance, protection, and blessings upon Prof. Maqari as he advances the cause of knowledge, morality, and women empowerment.
